Navigation

To walk safely in the hills some basic navigation skills are needed. This section will describe some of the skills needed. It should be remembered that there is no substitute for experience, and all skills should be practiced regularly.

By working through each section of the site in turn you should pick up enough skills to be able to navigate in poor visibility, use the map effectively, plan a route, and leave a suitable route card for a walk.able route card for a walk.
